Children’s Summer Art Competition @ The Smith
Inspired by our National Museums Scotland highlight loan of The Mary, Queen of Scots casket, we are inviting children and young people aged 3-18 to create and share their artwork with us in our Mary Rocks! Summer Art Competition at the Smith.
There are 5 different categories based on age and each has a separate theme connected to the Renaissance icon Mary, Queen of Scots.
Ages 3-5 Pets
Ages 6-8 Mythical creatures
Ages 9-11 Castles & Gardens
Ages 12-15 Wildlife & Landscapes
Ages 16-18 Mary’s Scottish Renaissance
Artworks should be 2-D up to A3 in size – any techniques and media can be used – for example – painting, collage, photography, textile, embroidery, printing, multi-media – be creative, use your imagination and have fun!
Entries open now and close Wednesday 13th August 2025 at 5pm.
Winners will have the opportunity to have their work featured in an exhibition in our gallery in September.
As well as this wonderful opportunity to exhibit work in a gallery space, the winners will receive a prize of art materials at our prize-giving ceremony on Saturday 23rd August at midday.
