Talks at The Smith
The Living Art of Taxidermy – Andrew Kitchener
The Smith used to have a natural history room, full of stuffed animals, where the café and shop are today. Only four examples now survive.
Have TV nature programmes wholly replaced the Victorian habit of collecting specimens? In this fascinating talk, Dr Kitchener suggests not. He explains the ongoing value of preserving and displaying animals in three dimensions, at the National Museum of Scotland and around the world.
